PRAYER

Prayer is responding to God, by thought and by deeds, with or without words. (BCP 856) The Prayer Book notes seven kinds of prayer: adoration, praise, thanksgiving, penitence, oblation, intercession, and petition. Mostly prayer is simply opening ourselves to God’s presence in our lives and then responding to that presence in these ways. As Christians we use a variety of prayer practices that encompass all of these types. Here at All Saints, intercessory prayer requests are received and offered to God in the following ways.

During the prayers of the people at each of our worship services, space is given for individuals to name people they are praying for either silently or aloud. The Daughters of the King maintain the parish prayer list. Names on that list can be added by using the form below and/or the prayer cards available in the church. All prayer requests come to the clergy and the Daughters of the King who keep individuals in prayer throughout the week. All prayer requests are considered confidential unless you specifically request otherwise. Names that have been requested to be public appear in the Parish Notes so that anyone in the parish may join in prayer for these individuals. Names remain on the prayer list for 30 days, unless otherwise specified. A prayer loom is located near the font; prayers may be written left there. They are also removed after 30 days. Votive candles are available to light in the Resting Chapel.
