Oasis Dinner on Boston Common 4/28
Our OASIS dinner last night felt like a twist on ‘the loaves and the fishes.’ We had plenty of food to share a hearty meal with close to 150 guests as we joined with them for a bag dinner on a nippy, but clear evening on Boston Common. What came out in super abundance throughout the day were the many All Saints parishioners, relatives and friends, and a certain Religious Ed Director who offered lunch bags and some extra chocolate eggs to tuck into the meal.
There were many, many wonderful moments… Martha B. offering grace as people lined up to be served as nearby church bells chimed; Peg T. in deep conversation with a a few guests at the start of the dinner line; Sue B. and Bob W., who could not be with us, but who individually bagged hundreds of candies on Sunday as a special treat; Kathleen O., who was joined by her niece, Vanessa, and friend, David; Joyce S. who shopped and tried to reteach yours truly how to hard boil an egg… 200 eggs actually; the list goes on.
Thanks to our dynamite kitchen crew: Kathleen, Charles, Barbara, Katie, Jean, Marcia, Dan, Lucy, and Renee.
Thanks to our super hosts on the Common: Charles, Vanessa and David, Kathleen, Dan, Anne, Martha, and Peg.
Thanks to our stealth assistance: Bob, Sue, Joyce, and Becky.
We truly needed each and every one of you working together to make this all successful.
And thanks to you all who offered prayers of encouragement and support. We needed that, too!
Mark your calendars for our next al fresco Monday OASIS Dinner on the Common on July 28. We hope as many of you as can will join us.
