CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRIES
My dear Friends,
Everything is ready for the beginning of Church School classes on Sunday! I am looking forward to welcoming your children into a new year of prayer and learning and service together, and I am excited to be working with a wonderful group of adults who comprise the 2014-2015 children’s and youth ministry team.
In our Godly Play classrooms we always begin in September with the story entitled The Circle of the Church Year. The children learn that the Church tells time not in a linear way where you start at a beginning and reach an end. Instead, the Church tells time in a circle, where the beginning and the end are tied together. In this way, we can remember that for every ending there is a beginning, and for every beginning there is an ending. Around and around we go, year after year, moving in God’s time, an endless journey that takes us ever deeper into the heart of God.
This year I am keenly aware of how beginnings and endings are tied together, as we begin a new ministry year without Don Teeters, our beloved music minister who passed away last month. Even as we begin to discern what, and who, awaits us, we give thanks for Don’s contribution to the rich heritage of music in this parish and the important role it plays in our worship life.
As I begin my 9th year of ministry with you, I give thanks for all the ways that you and your children are forming me as a disciple of Christ. And I look forward to what God has in store for me, and for all of us, in the months ahead!
Yours, faithfully in Christ,
Becky Taylor
